About Wrightia antidysenterica (L.) R.Br.

Wrightia antidysenterica (L.) R.Br. is a flowering plant in the genus Wrightia. It has the common names coral swirl and tellicherry bark. This species is sometimes confused with Holarrhena pubescens, because the name Wrightia antidysenterica was second published in a taxonomically invalid way that linked it incorrectly to Holarrhena pubescens. In Sanskrit, it is known as kuṭaja or ambikā. According to the Samarāṅgaṇa Sūtradhāra, a Sanskrit treatise focused on the Hindu science of art and construction called Śilpaśāstra, the juice of this plant is a potent ingredient added to wall plaster mixtures. It is also used as a traditional medicinal plant.
