Vittadinia cuneata DC., commonly known as the fuzzy New Holland daisy, is an upright annual or perennial plant that grows 10โ40 cm (3.9โ15.7 in) tall. It has stiff stems that are more or less covered in glandular, coarse, rough hairs. Its leaves vary in colour from green to grey-green, are wedge-shaped, and occasionally have lobes. Leaves measure 10โ25 mm (0.39โ0.98 in) long and 2โ5 mm (0.079โ0.197 in) wide. The flower heads have pale blue or mauve petals surrounding a yellow central disk. Flowering occurs from spring through autumn. The fruit is a bristly, ridged achene 4โ7 mm (0.16โ0.28 in) long. Three varieties of this species are currently recognized: Vittadinia cuneata var. cuneata, Vittadinia cuneata var. hirsuta, and Vittadinia cuneata var. morrisii. This widespread species grows in a wide range of habitats, including areas with sand, clay, or limestone substrate, in woodland and mallee vegetation. It is found in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia.
