Virbia ostenta, commonly known as the showy holomelina, is a species of moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Henry Edwards in 1881. Its known distribution covers the mountain ranges of New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico. Males of this species have forewings that reach an average length of approximately 17.1 mm, while female forewings average around 18.5 mm in length. Larvae of Virbia ostenta have successfully been reared using dandelion species and Lactuca floridana as food sources.
