About Vesper multinervatus (J.M.Coult. & Rose) R.L.Hartm. & G.L.Nesom
Vesper multinervatus, with the synonym Cymopterus multinervatus, is a flowering plant species belonging to the carrot family Apiaceae. Its common name is purplenerve springparsley. This is a perennial herb native to the southwestern United States, where it grows in desert regions. It is a stemless plant: it produces its leaves and inflorescence at ground level, growing from a taproot. Its leaves stand erect on petioles that are a few centimeters long. Each leaf has a fleshy blade that is dissected into waxy, multilobed leaflets. The inflorescence grows from a stout purple or greenish peduncle that reaches up to around 14 centimeters tall. The top of the inflorescence holds a rounded cluster of purple flowers, which is sheathed in purple-veined bracts.
