The Asian hornet (Vespa velutina), often referred to as the yellow-legged hornet or Asian predatory wasp, is a hornet species native to Southeast Asia. It has become a significant concern as an invasive species in various regions, particularly across most of Europe. Originating from Southeast Asia, V. velutina is primarily found in tropical areas including northern India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, Taiwan, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Indo-Chinese peninsula, and nearby archipelagos.
