About Vespa binghami Buysson, 1905
Vespa binghami Buysson, 1905 is a medium to large-sized hornet. Worker individuals average 30mm in length, and forewing length ranges from 19.0mm to 25.6mm across both males and females. Body colouration varies by geographic location: specimens found in Southeast Asia have a brown body with a yellow head, while specimens from Russia and Korea are mostly brown with yellow markings on the abdomen. The key distinguishing feature of Vespa binghami is that its ocelli are much larger than those of other related species. This hornet is distributed in the Chiang Mai region of northern Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, parts of India, Yunnan and Sichuan in China, the Korean Peninsula (discovered in Korea in 1925), and Primor'ye and Sakhalin in Russia.
