Veronica spicata L., commonly called spiked speedwell, has the synonym Pseudolysimachion spicatum. It is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Plantaginaceae. This plant grows between 0.30 and 0.91 meters (1 to 3 feet) tall, and produces flower spikes that reach 1 foot in length. Its flowers can come in blue, pink, purple, or white. It holds the status of county flower of Montgomeryshire, located in the United Kingdom. Common cultivated varieties of this species include the blue-flowered 'Royal Candles', red-flowered 'Red Fox', and white-flowered 'Noah Williams'. It has been a protected species in the UK since 1975, protected under the Conservation of Wild Creatures and Wild Plants Act.
