Verbascum virgatum Stokes is a tall biennial herb that grows between 1 and 2 metres high. Its flowers are 3 to 4 centimetres in diameter, yellow with a purple centre. This species is native to Great Britain, Italy, France, the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, and the Madeira Islands. It has also become naturalized in South Africa, North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Melanesia, Polynesia, and the Azores.
