About Venegasia carpesioides DC.

Venegasia is a genus of North American plants that belongs to the tribe Madieae in the family Asteraceae. Venegasia carpesioides DC. is the only known species in the Venegasia genus. This species is a shrubby bush that grows up to 1.8 meters tall, and it commonly grows in moist canyons in southern California and Baja California. Its common name is canyon sunflower. The genus Venegasia was named in honor of Mexican historian Miguel Venegas, who lived from 1680 to 1764.
