Vanessula is a monotypic butterfly genus belonging to the family Nymphalidae. The genus contains only one species: Vanessula milca, which is commonly known as either the black and orange or the lady's maid. This species is distributed across Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia. Its natural habitat is made up of dense forests and riverine forests.
