The Karoo toad, Gariep toad, or mountain toad, scientifically named Vandijkophrynus gariepensis, is a species of toad belonging to the family Bufonidae.
Geographic Range
It is found in southern Namibia, most of South Africa, Lesotho, and Eswatini.
Habitat Types
This is an abundant species that occurs across many habitat types, including fynbos heathland, succulent karoo, thickets, grassland, and Nama Karoo.
Breeding Habitat
It breeds in both permanent and temporary waterbodies, such as streams, waterholes, lakes, rain pools, and even hoof prints.
Conservation Status
There are no significant known threats to this adaptable species.
