About Vaccinium japonicum Miq.

Vaccinium japonicum Miq. is a deciduous flowering shrub species. It is native to Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and parts of China. Within China, it is specifically found in the provinces of Anhui, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Zhejiang. It typically grows in forests and thickets in alpine areas at elevations between 1000 and 2600 metres. This species was once classified as a subspecies of the North American species Vaccinium erythrocarpum, but it has since been reclassified as a full separate species.
