About Utricularia foliosa L.

Utricularia foliosa, commonly known as the leafy bladderwort, is a large suspended aquatic carnivorous plant in the genus Utricularia of the family Lentibulariaceae. It is most likely a perennial plant that grows in lakes, swamps, and ponds. U. foliosa is native to Africa, North America, and South America, and is widely distributed across many countries. Despite its wide distribution, very few research studies have focused on U. foliosa. This species sprouts year-round and is found in large bodies of water. The habitats where Utricularia foliosa occurs are facing negative anthropogenic impacts: drainage and land conversion for urban or agricultural activities are causing rapid environmental degradation of these areas.
