About Urtica cannabina L.

Urtica cannabina, commonly known as hemp nettle, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the nettle family Urticaceae. It is native to Central Asia, Siberia, Mongolia, and northern and central China. It has also been introduced to Ukraine, European Russia, and the Russian Far East. This species is a perennial herb that typically grows to between 50 and 150 cm (20 to 59 inches) in height. It grows well in a wide range of habitats, including areas disturbed by human activity. In China, attempts are currently underway to cultivate this plant for its fiber.
