Urothemis aliena, commonly known as the red baron, is a dragonfly species in the family Libellulidae. It is native to northern and eastern Australia and New Guinea. This dragonfly typically inhabits riverine lagoons and ponds. Urothemis aliena is a medium-sized dragonfly, with a body length of 45mm and a wingspan of 85mm. It can be identified by its bright red body and two dark spots on the eighth and ninth segments of its abdomen. A dark triangular reddish-brown mark is present at the base of its hindwing. In Australia, its distribution extends from Broome, Western Australia, along the continent's northern region to the southern border of Queensland.
