About Uromyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) J.Schröt.

Scientific name: Uromyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) J.Schröt. Uromyces viciae-fabae var. viciae-fabae is a plant pathogen that is commonly called faba-bean rust. This rust can be identified by its characteristic rust-colored marks that develop on infected plant stems and leaves. Infection causes defoliation, reduces the amount of plant surface available for photosynthesis, and lowers crop yield. This disease is caused by a fungus. It is autoecious, meaning it completes its life cycle on just one plant host. Faba-bean rust is macrocyclic, which means its life cycle produces five different spore types.
