Uperodon globulosus (Günther, 1864)

Adult Size

For Uperodon globulosus, adult male frogs reach 65 mm in snout-vent length, while adult female frogs reach 85 mm.

Non-breeding Coloration

The dorsal skin is gray-brown, and the belly is white.

During the breeding season, the frog's throat turns yellow with black spots.

Habitat and Elevation Range

It is a fossorial species that lives in both scrub forests and agricultural land, and has been recorded at elevations up to 1200 meters above sea level.

It can be found in many protected areas, including Vansda National Park, Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Dudhwa National Park, Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary, Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary, Shuklaphanta National Park, Bardia National Park, and Royal Manas National Park.

Breeding Behavior

This frog engages in explosive breeding in shallow ponds.

Tadpole Coloration

Tadpoles of this species have brown backs, whitish tails with darker stripes, and dark spots on their flanks and ventral areas.
