About Umbilicus horizontalis var. intermedius (Boiss.) Chamb.
Umbilicus horizontalis, commonly called the horizontal navelwort, is a fleshy perennial flowering plant. It belongs to the genus Umbilicus in the family Crassulaceae. It is native to the Mediterranean Basin and Middle East, occurring from the Azores in the west to Oman in the east, where it grows in rocky habitats. On average, horizontal navelwort grows 25 cm (10 inches) tall. Its thickly clustered, bell-shaped pale green flowers grow in a raceme that is perpendicular to the flower spike, which differs from common navelwort, whose flowers droop. This trait gives the species its common name "horizontal". The plant often grows on shady walls or in damp rock crevices with little other plant growth. Its succulent, dark green leaves grow in rosettes that reach around 7 cm (3 inches) wide. While horizontal navelwort is similar to common navelwort in many ways, it is noticeably more succulent.
