About Turdus rufiventris Vieillot, 1818

This species, Turdus rufiventris Vieillot, 1818, gets its common name from its characteristic reddish-orange underparts. Adult rufous-bellied thrushes can reach a total length of 25 cm. The maximum recorded weight is 68 g for males and 78 g for females, though typical weights are around 59 g for males and 64 g for females. Contrary to expectations based on the clear weight difference between sexes, females are not larger overall, only plumper; on average, the tarsus of females is actually slightly shorter than that of males.
