The chestnut thrush, scientifically named Turdus rubrocanus J.E.Gray & G.R.Gray, 1847, is a bird species that belongs to the Turdidae family. It breeds in the western Himalayas and central or southwestern China, and winters in the Eastern Himalaya and northern Southeast Asia. Its natural habitat is temperate forests. This species is socially monogamous, but extra-pair mating partners are common. It shows sexual dichromatism, a type of sexual dimorphism where males and females have different plumage colors. This color difference is usually not noticeable to human observers.
