About Turdus poliocephalus niveiceps (Hellmayr, 1919)
The Tasman Sea island thrush (scientific name Turdus poliocephalus) is an extinct forest bird belonging to the thrush family. It was formerly found on Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. This bird is part of the island thrush complex. Following a 2023 molecular phylogenetic study, the island thrush complex was split into 17 separate species. Both subspecies of the Tasman Sea island thrush went extinct during historical times.
