About Turdus pelios Bonaparte, 1850

The African Thrush (Turdus pelios Bonaparte, 1850) has dark olive-grey upperparts. On its underparts, the side of the throat is whitish with evenly distributed brown streaks. The breast is greyish brown, and the flanks are pale buff-orange; this colour does not extend to the lower breast. The belly and vent are white, and the bill is yellow-orange. This species weighs between 46 and 78 g (1.6โ€“2.8 oz) and has a total length of 21โ€“23 cm (8.3โ€“9.1 in). Its distribution range extends from Senegal and Gambia in the west eastward to South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, and southward to northwestern Zambia and western Angola. It occurs in a wide variety of wooded habitats, including forest edges, riparian woodland, scrub cultivation, parks, and gardens.
