About Turdus hortulorum P.L.Sclater, 1863
The grey-backed thrush, scientifically named Turdus hortulorum P.L.Sclater, 1863, is a medium-sized passerine bird. This species is sexually dimorphic. Males have a slate grey back and chest, a white chin and belly, and rufous flanks. Females have grey or brown backs, with dark spots on the chest, and similar plumage to males on their belly and flanks. Adult grey-backed thrushes measure 20 to 23 centimeters in total length. Their body mass has an average of 66.7 grams, ranging between 61 and 69 grams. Grey-backed thrushes primarily nest and forage in deciduous or evergreen forests located on rolling terrain, and they rarely move to elevations higher than 1100 meters. Their diet consists of both fruit and insects.
