About Turdus aurantius Gmelin, 1789

The white-chinned thrush, Turdus aurantius Gmelin, 1789, has an overall body length of 24–26.5 cm (9.4–10.4 in). Males and females look very similar. Its face, crown, and nape are black, while the rest of its upperparts are dark grey. Two small broad white edges on the innermost greater coverts form a small white wing patch. Its chin is whitish, and the rest of its underparts are mid-grey, with the palest feathers located on the belly. Its bill, legs, and feet are orange, and its eye is brown. The only other thrush species found in Jamaica is the white-eyed thrush, which lacks both the white wing patch and the orange bill seen in this species. In Jamaica, local common names for this bird include hopping dick and chick-me-chick.
