Tulipa uniflora is a perennial bulb-growing plant. Its bulbs are brown, with a diameter between 1 and 2 centimeters. The leaves of this species are narrow, green, and linear. Each bulb produces only one small flower. The flower petals are yellow, with a purple tint on their outer surface. The style of each flower is less than 1 millimeter long. Flowers grow at the top of hairless glabrous stems that reach between 10 and 20 centimeters in height. This species is native to Siberia, Mongolia, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. It grows on rocky slopes and mountainsides, at altitudes up to 2400 meters.
