The standard form grows to a height of 15–20 cm (5.9–7.87 inches), while the dwarf form reaches only 5–7 cm (1.9–2.7 inches). Each flower has a yellow base and white outer segments. This species is native to the Central Asian region encompassing Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, where it grows on stony or clay slopes.
