About Tulasnella violea (Quél.) Bourdot & Galzin
This species, scientifically named Tulasnella violea (Quél.) Bourdot & Galzin, produces effused, smooth, waxy (ceraceous) basidiocarps (fruit bodies) that range in color from violet-pink to grey. Microscopically, its hyphae measure 3.5–5(−7) μm wide and do not have clamp connections. Most of its basidia are clavate, and measure 8–16 x 5–9 μm. Its sterigmata start as globose to ellipsoid, and later become clavate, fusiform, or mitre-shaped (mitriform); they are 4.5–6.5 μm wide, and can extend to various lengths up to 35 μm long. The majority of its basidiospores are globose to broadly ellipsoid, and measure 5.5–9 x 5.5–7.5 μm. Its anamorph forms monilioid hyphae, which are chains of swollen hyphal compartments, with individual compartments reaching up to 8.5 μm in diameter.
