About Trimezia steyermarkii R.C.Foster

Trimezia steyermarkii R.C.Foster is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the Iridaceae family. It is native to southern Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and Venezuela. Mature plants can reach up to 150 centimeters in height. They grow from rhizomes that measure 2 to 4 centimeters long and 2 to 3 centimeters wide. Their leaves are lanceolate in shape, ranging from 60 to 150 centimeters long and around 2 centimeters wide. The flowers of this species are yellow with brown spots. In Colombia and Venezuela, this plant is commonly called "Hand of God", a name that refers to its three flower petals. Trimezia steyermarkii is closely related to T. martinicensis, and the two species have been frequently confused with one another.
