About Trimerodytes percarinatus (Boulenger, 1899)

Trimerodytes percarinatus is a non-venomous, defensive snake that will readily bite when captured. It is a medium-sized species, with a typical total length (including the tail) ranging from 70 to 90 cm (28 to 35 inches), and may reach a maximum total length of 110 cm (43 inches). Adult females of this species usually lay between 4 and 13 eggs per clutch, and can occasionally lay as many as 25 eggs. This snake occurs in northeast India’s Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar (also called Burma), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, southern China including the provinces of Hainan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan and Hubei, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It is an aquatic species that lives in hilly habitats.
