About Tricoryne elatior R.Br.
Tricoryne elatior R.Br. is a rhizomatous perennial herb with fibrous roots. It typically reaches a height of 10 to 40 cm, though it can occasionally grow up to 1 m tall. Its leaves are linear, measuring 5โ10 cm long and 1โ3.5 mm wide, and are usually glabrous. The flowering axis is terete with a smooth surface, though it sometimes has scabrous hairs at its base. Umbels hold 2โ10 flowers on pedicels that are roughly 1.5โ6 mm long. Outer tepals are oblong, acute, three-veined, and measure 6โ14 mm by 1.5โ3 mm. Inner tepals are elliptic, obtuse, three-veined, and measure 5โ10 mm by 3โ4 mm wide. After flowering, tepals twist into a spiral shape before eventually falling. This species has six stamens attached to the base of the perianth. Stamens filaments are 3โ6 mm long, with tufts of clavate hairs located below the anthers; the anthers themselves are ovate and 0.6โ0.9 mm long. Its mericarps are ellipsoidal, slightly reticulate, and measure 3โ6 mm by 1.5โ3.5 mm. This plant grows in sclerophyll forests, heaths, woodlands, and occasionally swamps, on sandy loams and lateritic soils.
