About Trichostetha fascicularis (Linnaeus, 1767)

Commonly known as the Protea Beetle, Trichostetha fascicularis (Linnaeus, 1767) reaches approximately 25 millimeters in length. This beetle has metallic-green wing cases, and a black head and thorax that bears two vertical white stripes. Orange hairs grow around the lower portion of its body. The Protea Beetle is distributed across South Africa in any area where proteas grow. Adult beetles feed on pollen and nectar. It inhabits fynbos, mountainous areas, and residential gardens when a suitable food supply is present there.
