About Trichostema nesophilum K.S.McClell. & Weakley
Trichostema nesophilum is a short-lived, suffrutescent perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), with the family's characteristic square stems and opposite leaves. Its stems bear both normal hairs and oil glands, which release an aromatic scent when disturbed. While the flower and inflorescence structure matches the overall traits of the genus Trichostema, this species' light pink-lavender corolla and yellow stamens are unique to its section of the genus. This species grows in coastal dune grasslands and barrens located behind large, established dune systems. Its distribution extends from just north of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, to Cape Romain, South Carolina.
