It is commonly known by two common names: the red-legged golden orb-weaver spider, and red-legged nephila. This spider species is native to southern Africa, East Africa, and multiple islands in the western Indian Ocean: Madagascar, the Seychelles, Réunion, Mauritius, and Rodrigues.
