About Trichodiadema calvatum L.Bolus
Trichodiadema calvatum L.Bolus is a small, erect succulent plant. It has a thick, trunk-like taproot that is widest at its upper end. Its branches are typically slender, with long, narrow internodes measuring 10 to 15 mm. The entire leaf surface is covered in prominent papillate epidermal cells. The leaf tips bear several slightly elongated bladder cells that protrude at different heights, so this species lacks the characteristic leaf-tip diadems common to other members of the Trichodiadema genus. Its flowers grow singly, and are colored purple or deep pink. They have a low central cone that later opens into a tube, and do not have filamentous staminodes.
