About Trichocereus cuzcoensis Britton & Rose
Echinopsis cuzcoensis (synonym: Trichocereus cuzcoensis Britton & Rose) grows in a tree shape, with numerous somewhat spreading branches, and reaches a height of 5 to 6 meters. Its cylindrical shoots are green, and feature seven to eight low, rounded ribs. Areoles on the ribs are spaced 1 to 1.5 centimeters (0.39 to 0.59 inches) apart. Around twelve very strong, stiff thorns emerge from each areole. These thorns are swollen at their base, and can grow up to 7 centimeters (2.8 inches) long. The species produces fragrant, funnel-shaped white flowers that remain open both day and night. The flowers are 12 to 14 centimeters (4.7 to 5.5 inches) long. Echinopsis cuzcoensis is widespread in the Cusco region of Peru, where it grows at altitudes between 3100 and 3600 meters.
