About Treron pompadora (J.F.Gmelin, 1789)

The Pompadour green pigeon, also called Sri Lanka green pigeon or Ceylon green pigeon, has the scientific name Treron pompadora, published by J.F.Gmelin in 1789. It is a pigeon species belonging to the genus Treron. In the Sinhala language used in Sri Lanka, this species and several other green pigeons are collectively known as bata goya. This pigeon is found in the forests of Sri Lanka. Many taxonomic authorities have split this species out from the broader pompadour green pigeon species complex.
