About Trema cannabina Lour.

Trema cannabina Lour. typically grows to around 6 metres (20 ft) in height, and can reach a diameter at breast height of up to 30 centimetres (12 in). It produces small white flowers. Its fruits measure 2 to 3 millimetres (0.079 to 0.118 in) in both height and width. Its leaves range from 4.3 to 16 centimetres (1.7 to 6.3 in) in length and 1.1 to 5.8 centimetres (0.43 to 2.28 in) in width.

This species is native to Southeast Asia and Oceania. It grows in lowland and upland forests at elevations from sea level up to around 950 metres (3,120 ft).

The fibres of Trema cannabina can be used to make paper and rope. Oil obtained from the plant can be used to produce soap and lubricants. It may also have medicinal uses.
