Taxonomic Identity

The brilliant ground agama, scientifically named Trapelus agilis (Olivier, 1807), is a species of agama.

Species Distribution Range

It is distributed across Central, West, and South Asia, with confirmed populations found in Iran, Pakistan, India, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, and Afghanistan; the subspecies T. a. isolepis occurs in Afghanistan, and its presence in Iraq is unconfirmed.

T. a. khuzistanensis Locality

The subspecies race khuzistanensis has its type locality in Khuzistan Province, Iran, 5 km northwest of Haft-Gel on the road to Shushtar.

T. a. pakistanensis Details

The race pakistanensis is found in southeastern Pakistan and adjacent northwestern India, and its type locality is Gaj-River, Kirthar Range, southeastern Pakistan.
