About Tragopogon orientalis L.

Tragopogon orientalis L. typically grows to around 40 cm (16 inches) tall. Its yellow flower heads measure 5–8 cm in diameter. Its ripe fruits are 15–20 mm long. Its leaves are rather broad. This plant species can be identified by two key features: its stem is enlarged just below the flower head (capitula), and its flowers are the same size as the perianth. This species is native to Eurasia, where its natural range extends from Europe through Siberia to the Western Himalaya.
