Tragia ramosa Torr. is a perennial herb that grows mostly erect, reaching a maximum height of 10 to 30 centimeters. The entire plant is covered in long, rough stinging hairs. Its leaves have lance-shaped or oval blades with toothed edges, and each leaf is borne on a petiole. This species is monoecious. Its inflorescence holds a small number of male flowers, and usually one female flower. The flowers do not have petals, but they do have green sepals. After pollination, the female flower produces a small capsule.
