Its preferred natural habitat is evergreen lowland forest, at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 1,000 m (3,300 ft).

It is most commonly found near freshwater flooded areas, irrigation ditches, and rivers.
Reproduction
Trachyboa boulengeri is viviparous.
