This species is found on the east coast of Australia, occurring in the mountains and coastal plain of this region, including the states of New South Wales and Queensland. The wingspan of adult Toxidia doubledayi is approximately 30 mm. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plant species from the genus Oplismenus.
