About Toechima tenax (Benth.) Radlk.

Toechima tenax (Benth.) Radlk., commonly known as brush teak, is a rainforest tree native to eastern Australia. Its specific epithet tenax most likely refers to the species' tough wood. This tree grows in drier rainforests, ranging from the Richmond River in southern New South Wales northward to Bundaberg, Queensland. It is rarely encountered within New South Wales. It is a small tree with a bright green canopy, reaching a maximum height of 18 metres and a maximum stem diameter of 30 centimetres. Its trunk is irregular in shape, grey in colour, and smooth in texture, and the base of the tree is typically buttressed.
