About Timarcha goettingensis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Timarcha goettingensis, a beetle species first described by Linnaeus in 1758, has a shiny blue-black, violet-copper, or black body, and measures 8 to 13 millimeters in length. It can be visually confused with two other beetle species. The first, Timarcha tenebricosa, is larger than T. goettingensis at 11 to 18 millimeters, and has a more distinctly constricted pronotum base than T. goettingensis. T. goettingensis may also be visually confused with Chrysolina sturmi.
