About Tillandsia tenuifolia L.

Tillandsia tenuifolia, commonly known as the narrowleaf airplant, is a species belonging to the genus Tillandsia. This species has a wide distribution across much of South America and the Caribbean islands. Four varieties of Tillandsia tenuifolia are currently recognized. Tillandsia tenuifolia var. disticha (L.B.Sm.) L.B.Sm. is found in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Tillandsia tenuifolia var. saxicola (L.B.Sm.) L.B.Sm. is also found in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Tillandsia tenuifolia var. tenuifolia occurs across most of the full species range. Tillandsia tenuifolia var. vaginata (Wawra) L.B.Sm. is found in Jamaica, Martinique, Brazil, and Paraguay.
