About Tillandsia bartramii Elliott

This species, scientifically named Tillandsia bartramii Elliott, grows in clumps that are 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16 inches) across. Each clump holds 15 to 30 gray leaves, measuring 15 to 40 cm long by 0.2 to 0.5 cm wide, which equals 6 to 16 inches by 0.08 to 0.20 inches. Its inflorescences are 8 to 15 cm (3.2 to 6.0 inches) long and 2 to 4 mm (0.08 to 0.16 inches) in diameter, and each inflorescence bears 5 to 20 individual flowers. The spikes of this plant reach 2 to 4 cm long by 1 cm wide (0.8 to 1.6 inches by 0.4 inches), and its floral bracts are 1.4 to 1.7 cm (0.45 to 0.68 inches) long. Mature fruits of Tillandsia bartramii measure 2.5 to 3 cm (1.0 to 1.2 inches) in diameter.
