About Tigrosa aspersa (Hentz, 1844)

Tigrosa aspersa is a large wolf spider, with a maximum body length of one inch (25 mm). It lives in the eastern United States. It is much larger than its close relative, Tigrosa helluo. Before 2012, this species was classified as Hogna aspersa, until it was reclassified and moved to the genus Tigrosa. In 1849, Nicolet accidentally gave the name Lycosa aspersa to a different species, Lycosa implacida.
