Thymelaea passerina has common names including spurge flax, sparrow weed, mezereon, and annual thymelaea. It is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Thymelaeaceae. It is native to central and southern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, the western Himalayas, and Xinjiang, China. It has been introduced to central North America and South Australia. An erect annual plant, it grows to heights between 6 and 61 cm (2.5 to 24 inches) tall. It is typically found growing in steppes, disturbed areas, and old fields.
