Thoressa varia (Murray, 1876) is a butterfly species belonging to the family Hesperiidae. It occurs on islands in eastern Asia, including the Sakhalin Islands, Kuril Islands, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and northeastern China. In Japanese, its common name is kochabane-seseri, which translates to "small brown wing": ko means "small" and chabane means "brown wings". The forewings of this species measure 16 to 18 mm in length. Adult Thoressa varia are active annually from June to July, and the species produces one to two generations each year. The larvae of Thoressa varia feed on Sasa kurilensis.
