About Thinopteryx crocoptera (Kollar)

This moth species, Thinopteryx crocoptera (Kollar), has a wingspan ranging from 51 to 64 mm. Its body is orange yellow. The head and collar are white, sprinkled with fuscous scales. The wings bear numerous orange strigae that are more or less combined into patches. The forewings have a white costa, which is irrorated (sprinkled) with fuscous. Oblique fuscous antemedial and postmedial lines are present, and are sometimes slightly curved. A fuscous line runs along the discocellulars of the forewings. A more or less lunulate submarginal line is also present, and this line is often reduced to a series of specks towards the costa. The hindwings also have a fuscous line on their discocellulars. A double angled submarginal line is located at the base of the hindwing tail. There is a visible fuscous patch on the hindwing tail.
